  • Originally written for a stage production of Tarry Flynn, a novel by Patrick Kavanagh
  • Philip Doddy from Sligo plays fiddle and tin whistle, Caroline Locke plays piano and keyboard, Irene Moloney is on bodhrán and mandolin, Shane Moloney plays fiddle and keyboard, while Seán plays fiddle and flutes.
  • Firmly rooted in the traditional Irish idiom with a 1930’s flavour and with some deviation to a more universal ballroom style for the dance hall scene.

  • Fiddle/flute duet in the old Ballinakill style of East Galway
  • Kevin Moloney is the fiddler from Ballinakill celebrated his 75th birthday on the day of recording in 1996. his last previous recording was in 1937 with the Ballinakill traditional players hence the title “Bridging the Gap”
  • Includes a great fiddle solo of Kevin
  • Influences: Paddy Kelly, Jack Mulkere, Paddy Fahy, Paddy Carty, Stephen Moloney, Tommy Whelan, Joe Burke and Eddie Moloney
